nutrition books

What are some good books on nutrition?

I’m looking to buy a book on basic nutrition, in order to help myself understand my own body better.

I want a book that simply & clearly explains the basic principles, for example, what carbohydrates are, different types & their sources, how your body breaks down & uses them, how long they take to digest & so on.

I don’t need anything specialized for any illnesses or conditions, I just want to know how food “works”, pretty much! I might consider a book that’s tailored for diet & weight loss, so long as it also explains basic nutrition at a very basic level!

Thank you in advance!

I always recommend “Body for Life” by Bill Phillips and his subsequent book “Eating for Life” which is full of delicious, easy to follow recipes.

Bill puts things into a perspective that are easy to understand and great for beginners in fitness to follow

It helped me get in shape when I had no direction and now, years later, I still eat meals from his book and follow his practices.
